We can't believe that 4 years have gone by already, but they have. James certainly has been a challenge and a huge joy. His love for learning and his curiosity have gotten him into trouble on many occasions, but his tender heart and charm have also gotten him right back out of it.
We started his birthday celebration on Friday when James discovered a package came in the mail for him. Of course he could not wait to open it.
The next surprise came when Michael discovered my hiding spot for other presents. This is from Grandpa and Grandma Buescher, these are really cool blocks. We have enjoyed playing with them.
Michael (our little drool machine) had fun playing with a worm thing that James got from Uncle Ryan and Aunt Rachel.
James loves his bear popper, it shoots balls out of his mouth!
The only thing James asked for over and over and over again was a construction cake with brand new toys on top. So that is what I made for him.
He loved it. This is a view of the other side.
We had cake last night because tonight we had a celebration dinner at church for the capital campaign. Of course James did not mind one bit about getting his cake a day early.
James also received some new cars from Jim and Naomi. He did not want to change his clothes after church, he just wanted to play with them. Which is funny because he is always stripping his church clothes once we get in the door.
More birthday gifts after Dad came home from church.
His very own flashlight!
James left after opening the flashlight to find a dark room to play with it in. Michael saw the deserted gift and decided to open it himself. Of course James came back in time to stop him.
His last gift from us was a big dump truck, he could not believe it!
Michael playing with the construction hat that came with it.
The family of dump trucks. With this many you would think that there wouldn't be any fights.
Playing a mess free version of hungry hungry hippos. This was in the deserted gift that Michael couldn't open, but he was still able to play with it.
Like I said earlier, James is such a joy. He constantly makes us laugh with his antics and the things that he says. He is a good big brother to Michael and a great helper. He always wants to help with the dishes, laundry, cooking and baking. He has recently started to clean up the toys before I even have to ask him. However there are still more days where I have to tell him 3 times to do it. We are so thankful for our 4 years with him and we are looking forward to many more and the stories that they will bring.
