James Turns 5!!!

James loved his birthday cards, he insisted that we hang them up with the Christmas cards.
I cannot believe that James is 5! Honestly, where has the time gone?
James is such a joy and we love watching him grow.
Speaking of growing, he had his 5 year check up today and he is 44 inches tall and he weighs 44 pounds. He is tall for his age and we were told he will be one of the biggest in the class.
He opened his gifts after his doctors appointment, it was something to look forward to.
Yes, we still do have Christmas up. James asked to keep it up for his birthday, so starting tomorrow it is coming down.
Uncle Steve and Aunt Rachel got him the Magic School Bus book set, he was thrilled.
James let Michael help him open some of his gifts.
They are looking at a tunnel and bridge set for their trains.
I think his face says it all! He loves his new bike from Grandpa and Grandma Buescher.
James asked for pizza for his birthday meal, so here they are putting on the sauce and cheese.
They are also wearing their new aprons that Grandma Meyer made for them when she was here.

Daniel didn't get to sample the cheese or pepperoni, but he did get to play with one of Dad's Star Wars things.
 The completed pizza!
I did not have any pizza sauce in the house so this whole pizza was made completely from scratch. The dough tasted great despite its lack of gluten and I think that I will make the sauce from scratch again.
James requested a cake that had a race track in the snow. He told me "I can ask for that because I know that you can make it for me!" I love his confidence in me and my cake making skills. He told anyone that would listen to him what his cake would look like.
After he finished eating it he informed me that "next year when I turn 6 I want a Cat in the Hat cake, but he is going to be building a sky scraper that is 6 feet tall! Then when I am 7 I want a Sonix City cake that makes noise." I told him to slow down and enjoy this years cake.
Here is a side view of his cake.
He was so excited that I made what he wanted.

After dinner we measured each of the boys, here they are checking out how tall they are.
James "When I am 100 I will be so big that I won't even fit inside this house!"

I love these boys and I am so excited to see what this year brings us.
