Jon had his birthday in between church services. We were happy that it fell on Saturday so that we could enjoy the whole day and relax. I took Jon to a local restaurant for lunch because you get a free meal on your birthday. For dinner Pastor Fenske had a little get together at his house on honor of Jon and another member who shared the same birthday. I was pretty excited that the only meal I cooked that day was breakfast. However, Jon did get his birthday meal of tortellini with vodka sauce and corn bread on Monday night.
We started the day out with ant watching. Jon and James went to get the paper and because our screen door is off (we have strong winds here and one of them did a number on our door, we should get our new door this Friday :) )James is able to grab the paper and continue running. So we sat outside with him for a while and he spotted and ant carrying a stick. He decided he needed to watch that ant to see where it was going. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day for bug watching.
After a good breakfast, Jon and James played with pillows. James decided that the dining room ceiling needed stars and a moon, of course we disagreed. So he moved into the family room and there they played hide from mom.
He likes to peek to see if I can see him.
While driving home one night Pastor Fenske came across a corvette. The price was right so he bought it. He drove it to our house so that we could take a look at it, James really liked it, maybe when it is a little warmer he will go for a ride in it.
Of course no birthday is complete without red cake, or black cake in this case. It is red cake, but I decided to try my hand at a Star Wars cake. This is the Death Star, I was happy that Jon recognized it right away. I may not have all the details correct, but the main thing is that it tastes good.
