FMSC

Immanuel participated in a Feed My Starving Children event that was going on this weekend.  Jon and I had heard about it and we were very excited to be able to actually participate in one.  If you are not familiar with this, it is a non-profit volunteer based event that packs meals for children who are starving around the world.  All of the money that is raised for the event goes to purchase food and materials needed to ship the food to third world countries.  We were packing food for children in Haiti.

Here is our table with Immanuel some Immanuel members.  I am sealing the bag with Marilyn, and her cousin Barb is standing next to me.  Barb is the one who gave James the race track that her daughter Alissa no longer plays with.  Barb is weighing the food, the bags had to weigh between 380 - 400 grams.  Each bag contained 6 meals.

Here 2 members Kurt and Brice put together the boxes that are used to ship the food.  Each box holds 36 bags of meals.

These women are labeling the bags with the date and place where they came from.  3 weeks from now these bags will be in the hands of teachers and missionaries in Haiti.

The other half of our table.  They are putting a scoop of powdered chicken and vitamins, a scoop of dehydrated vegetables, a cup of soy beans and a cup of rice into the bags.  This meal has been specifically designed for the children who will receive them.  Each child that starts this program will be guaranteed to be fed for a year.

Here is a look at a whole table.  We were shown a picture of a little girl named Marylin, she is 3 years old and when she was placed in the care of a Christian orphanage and began eating these meals she weighed 13 lbs.  7 months later, after receiving 2 meals a day she weighed 33 lbs.

The shift that we were with, I believe that over the weekend there were 4 shifts per day.

This is what we did.  Praise God!!
