James turns 2

James turned 2 on Thursday, it is hard to believe that two years have gone by.  He is doing very well, full of energy and talking non-stop.  We love to hear the new words that he learns each day, except for a few.  He learned "mine" and he would say that when he wanted a toy, we quickly replaced that with please and thank you.  He is learning all of his body parts and he loves arts and crafts time.  He enjoys spending time in the basement where all of his big cars and trucks are and he is allowed to be wild and crazy.  He had his 2 year check-up today and he has hit all of his milestones including climbing( which is one that I do not like) and building towers.  His first sentence was "Yes, I see balls"  referring to the snow balls some of the kids made at church.  He is 35 1/2 inches (70th percentile), 29.6 lbs (75th percentile).

James loves dinosaurs, we keep those in his room and he loves to make them stomp and climb everywhere.

It is exhausting keeping up with dinosaurs, so he was ready for a nap.  We have the bed set up and he does lay down in it, but he has not taken a nap in it yet.

We have started to slowly bring out the baby things and add them to the kitchen and nursery.  James found the latest box before I could put it away, it was full of bottles and spoons.  He had to try each spoon out to make sure it still worked, they all passed his test.

James' favorite movie is Cars, for his birthday we bought him Cars 2, he loved watching it with Dad.  Right after I took this picture he noticed that Jon was on his knees so he got on his knees but then realized that he could not see the tv.  So Jon picked him up and he sat between us on the couch.

James got a tricycle from Grandpa and Grandma, he was so excited to try it out.  He was also very impatient and not very understanding while I was putting it together.  He really wanted to ride it outside so we got dressed and suited up and headed out.  James still loves to go on walks, and he asked to go see Dada (the church is about 14 blocks from the house), I checked the temperature it was 14' and sunny so I thought why not.  We were fine the first 10 blocks because the houses blocked the wind for us, but once we turned down the road that the church was on the wind was hitting us in the face and then we felt the cold.  James did not like that and his hands got cold through his mittens and he started to say "owy, owy" and holding up his hands so I carried him the rest of the way and he snuggled into my shoulder.  We were so happy to arrive at church and together Jon and I warmed up his hands and then Jon brought us home in time for a nice warm lunch.

This is James proud that he made it almost all the way to church.  I told him that we will not take a walk again unless it is above 20', I think he agrees with me.

Uncle Jonathan, Aunt Becky and Cousins Benjamin and Paul sent him some play dough and a play dough thing.  He really enjoyed making things out of it and smashing it down.

Enjoying his "birthday cake", of course all of the frosting is gone.

The next day he had to help clean up, now that he is two it is time for him to get to work around the house.
