We often have KLOVE, the christian radio station on during the day and sometimes on as background music during dinner. James has been paying attention to the words that are being said and sung. After listening to the TobyMac song "Lose My Soul", he asked "How do you lose your soul?" We talked about how sometimes it seems nice to have all the toys in the world but if it means that you love them more than Jesus than it would be better to have no toys. We also talked about how Jesus is the protector of our souls and he didn't have to worry about losing it.
He also asked what mercy and grace were. We explained and he seemed to understand but I wasn't sure. Today in church Pastor Fenske was preaching on the Gospel lesson which was the temptation of Jesus. He mentioned mercy in the sermon and James was so excited that he shouted "that is when you baptize a baby and Jesus died for your sins and you are clean." I guess he was paying attention and he did understand more than I thought he did.
I love that he is able to understand the main points of faith and why we believe what we believe. It is so exciting to see him get it and it is really exciting to hear him repeat it later.
